It's the season of love! When the dreariness of winter feels to be dragging on, Valentine's Day is such a fun time to show love and bring in bright pops of color. I like to keep traditions and decor simple, but also FUN. I love to bring accents of pinks, reds, and hearts into my home. I hope these simple ideas for Valentine's Day decorations bring a little love into your home this holiday.
Valentine's Day Decor on a Budget
1. Mailboxes
I found darling little mailboxes a few years ago and bought four, one for each one of my kids. I added their names and a heart decal to each one to make it feel more like a Valentine's Day decoration. I like to stick little love notes in them as well as special treats or snacks to show them how much I love and think about them. I also have little notes that have fun prompts on them that I laminated years ago and re-use each year with a wet erase marker. Some of the prompts are: "I love it when you... My favorite thing to do with you... One of your greatest strengths is... I appreciate it when you... My favorite movie to watch with you is..."
2. Plants & Trees
I love to add red, pink, and heart-shaped ornaments to a tree or stems. It is an easy way to make our home feel like Valentine's Day without changing any of our base decor. This easy Valentine's Day decoration idea won't break the bank and will still add those desired pops of color during the holiday.
3. DIY Wreathes
I love making changes to our wreath for the seasons without the need to store additional wreath. I have a one simple wreath, but you can also easily tie ornaments or decorations to a plain wreath with fishing wire or ornament hooks. This is also a budget-friendly alternative to buying a whole separate wreath just for Valentine's Day.
4. Table Decorations
I also like to change our dining room table runner to make our home feel more seasonal. For Valentine's Day, I add little plastic hearts to the runner. I get these at the dollar store, but you can find them at most craft stores as well.
5. Banners
I have a banner for every holiday. They are such an inexpensive and easy way to add a seasonal message to the home. They are compact, easy to store, and don't disrupt your regular decor! I also love the idea of decorating a fireplace mantle with a Valentine-themed banner, since it can truly anchor a space. Remember, it's all about what first impression you want your home to make.
6. Flowers
Nothing says love like beautiful, fresh, flowers. Add a beautiful and fragrant bouquet of your favorite pink, red, and white flowers to your kitchen island or dining room table to bring in the love of the season. This Valentine decoration idea is sure to make your home feel festive and bright.
